The accident happened around 2 p.m. on Route 480. The driver was unhurt.
High winds reduced visibility to whiteout conditions in some areas. Coupled with steady rain, it created areas of heavy slush.
Tire marks indicate the van skidded on the slush, rolled up a snow bank and subsequently landed on its roof.
The van was headed back towards the Trans-Canada Highway from Burgeo when the accident occurred.
Motorists soon happened upon the area and notified workers from the Department of Transportation and Works who were clearing snow not far from the scene.
The department then alerted the RCMP and a town truck to clear the highway.
