Columbia University's position continues with a new deadline for negotiations between the school and student protesters

NEW YORK (WABC) — In this edition of Eyewitness News Extra Time, we have new videos on the ongoing protest in Colombia, a new video on the American hostages in Gaza, and a new search for evidence on the Kilgo Beach murders on Long Island.

The strike in Colombia is now in its second week. On Wednesday, the university announced that final exams would be held online, and the protesters have now blown the negotiation deadline set 18 hours earlier.

House Speaker Mike Johnson also visited the university on Wednesday, where he held a news conference about what he says is a troubling rise in antisemitism on college campuses across the country.

Here are other key headlines from Wednesday's show:

A video released by Hamas on October 7 of an American hostage

Family members have made a desperate plea after new video surfaced of an American hostage in Gaza.

Hamas released a video of Hersh Goldberg-Pohl, 23, of Chicago, on Wednesday. His arm was amputated when he was abducted from the Nova music festival on October 7. He appears to have recorded his message under duress, with his head shaved and his dominant hand missing.

But 201 days later, it appears to be evidence of an American hostage's life in Gaza, and a new reason to fight for his parents, John and Rachel. Hours later, they released their own video, pleading with negotiators to come back to the table and end the madness that has consumed the Middle East.

A search is underway in LI as part of the Kilgo Beach investigation: sources

As part of the Kilgo Beach investigation, investigators are searching a wooded area in Manorville, law enforcement sources told ABC News.
