Six residents from the southwest coast will be pedalling their bicycles in support of new playground equipment for Max Simms Memorial Camp.

Chair of the camp’s board of directors, Valerie Clarke of Port aux Basques, said there’s an initiative to replace the playground equipment at the camp.
Using the idea of the Ride to the Max, which is normally performed on motorcycle, Clarke approached some local exercise enthusiasts with the idea to fundraise for the equipment.
Shirley Carter of Cape Ray was only too happy to take on the challenge for a bit of fitness, and to give back to a worthwhile cause.
The ride will take place Tuesday, with the group of residents leaving the Lions Club in Port aux Basques and riding the Trans-Canada Highway up to Cape Ray and back again.
Located on Bay D’Espoir Highway, Bishop’s Falls, the Lions Max Simms Memorial Camp is known as the place where all for disabled people to receive an enriching and rewarding camping experience.
Anyone wishing to sponsor the ride can do so by calling Clarke at 695-7372 or Carter at 695-2633.
