Goose Cove, N.L. -- Spring is an exciting time for iceberg watchers around the northern and eastern coasts of Newfoundland and Labrador.

The first icebergs of 2017 have started to arrive in waters off the island.

Facebook user Icebergs Goose Cove NL posted a couple pictures of some ‘bergs making the southern trek that were taken this past Sunday.

The photos were taken from Griffins Head lookout in Goose Cove on the Northern Peninsula.

Spring and early summer is the best time to view icebergs in the province.

It won’t be long now and residents and tourists alike will be clamouring to catch a glimpse of the majestic ice formations all along Iceberg Alley.
