Kevin Pollard says he decided at the last minute not to run for the leadership of the Progressive Conservative Party, thereby missing an opportunity to become the next premier.
Instead he will support Paul Davis.

The Baie Verte-Springdale MHA announced last week that a run for the leadership was something he was considering at the time, and said his decision was a difficult one to make.
“I was very close to running because I feel I have something to offer and I could do a lot to help the people of the province,” he said. “However, at the last minute, I decided not to go for it, and bowed out of the process.”
Pollard says he was actively seeking signatures and had accumulated over 60 at the time he decided not to run.
However, it was a number of factors that played into his decision to sit this one out, he said, which came into the mix.
“I was getting everything ready because I was very serious about it,” he said. “However, after talking to my family and some close friends, I don’t think the timing is right at this moment.”
