The RNC has released a number of tips to help prevent and minimize the risk of becoming a victim of identity theft.

• Never give out personal information in any form, unless you have initiated the contact;

• Do not carry your Social Insurance Number (SIN) card with you and avoid providing your number to anyone unless it is absolutely necessary;

• Minimize the identification information and number of cards you carry with you, either in your wallet or purse;

• While making purchases with your credit or debit cards over this busy shopping season, remember to protect your Personal Identification Number (PIN).

To report fraudulent activity, or report information about identity theft, contact the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

    Never give out personal information in any form, unless you have initiated the contact; especially if an R.N.C.officer gets nosey.....tell them to read the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.....
