On Sept. 6, the South Brook Goodyear's Cove Park Committee sponsored a family fun evening to celebrate the end of another successful summer season. Residents of South Brook, young and old, as well as visitors to the Park enjoyed a festive evening at Goodyear's Cove Beach.

The event opened with games for the children such as Ring Toss, Football Throw, and the ever popular Plinko game. A special treat for families was the Chain of Love game which had children running the park trails looking for hidden chain links, while their parents huffed and puffed as they tried to keep up!

Next, the campfires were lit and everyone gathered round to roast wieners and marshmallows, make S'mores, and keep warm. As darkness fell, a parade of lighted boats appeared around the point. All present appreciated the work that had gone into decorating the boatss. Then came the launching of a group of Chinese Lanterns, which everyone watched until they floated out of sight. The night concluded with an excellent display of fireworks.

By all accounts the Family Fun Evening was a great success. Many people noted the importance of community groups and citizens working together to make such an event happen, and, they were looking forward to a bigger and better night on the beach next year.

The Goodyear's Cove Park Committee thanks everyone who helped out, and came out to enjoy the evening, especially: the South Brook Recreation Committee, the South Brook Town Council, the Volunteer Fire Brigade, Town Staff, Kona Beach Park, and Johnny O's Take Out.
