KINGS POINT - - Valmont Academy hosted another great provincial tournament this past weekend. The small schools island qualifier hosted seven teams from across Newfoundland and Labrador in King's Point Nov. 13 to 15. Teams included William Gillett Academy from Charlottetown, Labrador; Basque Memorial from Red Bay, Labrador; Our Lady of Labrador from West St. Modeste, Labrador; Bishop White School from Port Rexton; St. Marks School from King's Cove; St. James All Grade from Lark Harbour, and of course Valmont Academy from King's Point.
Individual sportsmanship winners were selected from each team and included, Aloysious O'Dell from Our Lady of Labrador, Matthew Bailey from Bishop White, Ryan Russell from William Gillett Academy, Jarett Newbury from Valmont Academy, Jesse Rumbolt from Basque Memorial, Reggie Travers from St. James All Grade, and Michael Monks from St. Mark's School.
The Championship game saw the Port Rexton Barons defeat the Charlottetown Eagles, two sets to none.
Valmont Academy would like to thank all staff, parents, and students involved in making such a great event.
Bishop White Barons take provincial title
The Bishop White Barons won the provincial small schools boys volleyball qualifier last weekend in King's Point.
