Looking forward to great race

Tracey Perry, the MHA for Fortune Bay-Cape La Hune, said she is throwing her support behind Steve Kent in the Progressive Conservative leadership race scheduled for September 12, 13 and 14.

MHA Tracey Perry, seen here speaking in the House of Assembly, is supporting Steve Kent in the PC leadership race scheduled for September.

She said the PC Party has a great slate of candidates in Kent, Paul Davis and John Ottenheimer.

“ However, I’ve worked with Kent over the past few years and I have a great deal of respect for him,” Perry said.

“ He is very enthusiastic, incredibly committed and has a really good understanding of the issues affecting the province.

“This is a job that requires working seven days a week where you punch in 20 hours on some work days. Kent is an extremely hard working politician who can certainly fill the demanding role.”

Perry said while some people may look at Kent’s youth as a disadvantage she looks at it as an asset.

She said, “Kent has a young family and can relate to the issues affecting young people; through his parents he understands the concerns of the older generation and, being middle-aged himself, knows the issues of his own generation as well.”

Perry said she is looking forward to the leadership convention in September.

“Whatever happens at the end of the day I believe we’re going to be a much stronger party. I’m really looking forward to the next year in presenting our new leader and what we’re all about. Overall, I sincerely believe that Kent represents change and he will make an excellent leader to take us into the next election.
