Grand Falls Winsdor RCMP have arrested a 35 year old man following a month-long investigation into recent thefts.

The thefts involved break-ins of vehicle, and the theft of wallets and purses. The RCMP say the culprits targeted public areas such as parks, fishing areas and campgrounds.

Jeremy Bjanes was arrested and will remain in police custody until a bail hearing this Friday, Aug. 15.

He is facing numerous charges, ranging from possession of stolen property and use of stolen credit cards and bank cards to impersonation.

The RCMP anticipates charges will also be laid against a co-accused of Bjanes.

The investigation resulted in the seizure of passports, social insurance numbers, driver’s licences, credit cards and debit cards of more than 20 different people from all over the island.  The RCMP reminds the public to lock their vehicles when they are unattended and to report any suspicious person(s) or activity.
