RCMP

On behalf of all the Royal Canadian Mounted Police employees throughout this great province, I would like to thank you for your overwhelming show of support over the past week. The injury of two and deaths of three of our New Brunswick members touches so many lives, in so many ways that it is difficult to put words around our feelings as we try to address the void that has been created by the senseless violence. Yet our spirit is not broken. We are more determined than ever to fulfill our oath of protecting the communities we serve.

Employees in our detachments from every corner of this province reported to me that you took the time out of your busy lives to lay flowers at the base of our flag poles, tie balloons to the fences in front of our buildings, send cards, and bring baked goods.  This show of support including stopping to talk to our members, shaking their hands and in many cases hugging them is appreciated.

A police officer’s career is not an easy one, and we face insurmountable challenges daily.  However, we will confront these challenges and continue to serve you, with the intent of keeping our communities safe.

On Tuesday, June 10th,   it was very touching when members from our policing partner, the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary and the Provincial Ambulance Services arrived at our headquarters to observe a moment of silence at 11 AM.  Our employees appreciated the sign of unity and it is something we will never forget.

In true RCMP tradition, we will stand strong and look toward the future, ever more committed to “Maintiens le droit.”

I thank you for the gestures of support, whether it was through our social media sites, phone calls or personal touches. It truly means a great deal to each of us. Thank you so much.

Sincerely,

Assistant Commissioner Tracy Hardy

Commanding Officer

RCMP, Newfoundland and Labrador

Organizations: Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Provincial Ambulance Services

Geographic location: Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick
