Todd Anderson of Port aux Basques won $50,000 on a scratch ticket he recieved for his birthday. After winning, he posted this 'selfie' on Facebook. He recieved several tickets, and isn't even sure who gave him the winning ticket.
On April 26, friends of his joined the Port aux Basques car salesman in celebrating his birthday at an 80s themed party.
Not feeling so great the next morning, Anderson said when it came time to clean up from the night before it took everything in him.
Many of the birthday cards he received contained scratch tickets; a normal thing to give when you don’t know what else to buy.
“I don’t play them, or scratch them or anything,” said Anderson. “So I just piled them together and while I was going back and forth to the car I had the cashier just put them through.”
On one trip into the store, with an armload of empties, Anderson heard the sound indicating he had won something, but the cashier was unable to tell him what exactly he had won.
He made another trip out and came in with his wife, and he said the cashier was just standing there staring at him.
“Todd,” she said. “You won $50,000!”
He said he couldn’t believe it, and actually did the happy dance around the store.
He doesn’t know who had given him the winning ticket, but he is definitely happy about it.
It didn’t take long for word to get around town after Anderson posted a ‘selfie’ on Facebook.
The ‘selfie’ featured a very happy Anderson holding the receipt showing he had won $50,000. The photo drew hundreds of likes and dozens of comments.
Anderson wasn’t long calling the Atlantic Lottery Corporation, and a meeting has been set up for Friday morning for him to receive the ‘big cheque.’
