A fifty-nine year old woman is dead following a collision between the car she was riding in and a SUV.
RCMP say the accident happened Friday on the Trans-Canada highway near Gambo just west of Joey’s Lookout. Witnesses say the car lost control and veered into the westbound lane, colliding with the SUV. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver of the car was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
RCMP from Gambo and Glovertown responded to the incident as well as the fire departments from both towns. The occupants of the SUV were treated for minor injuries at the scene.
The road was snow covered and slippery at the time with high winds reducing visibility to near zero.
