While he wasn’t sure of the charge, Const. Ken LaSaga of the Bay St. George RCMP said one youth is being charged in relation to the incident at Stephenville High School on Tuesday morning.

Stephenville High took emergency measures before classes began that day on the advice of the RCMP, according to a release from the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District.

It said on the recommendation of police, the school took emergency measures for approximately 10-15 minutes due to reports of an individual of concern in the area.

LaSaga would only say that there was a concern expressed and administration at Stephenville High School followed policy during the incident.

He said both the Bay St. George RCMP and the Stephenville Fire Department attended the school and both were released before 9 a.m. and the school was running as normal shortly after.

While police weren’t releasing whether it was a male or female that was charged in relation to the incident, LaSaga said the youth will be appearing in court at a later date.
