Shelton, five-time CMA male vocalist of the year and a coach on NBCs “The Voice”, will headline AtlanticFest 2017. The rest of the line-up will be announced in the next few days.
The festival will be held in Centennial Concert Park and is scheduled to take place Saturday, August 26th.
David Carver Music, who made the announcement via Facebook, is organizing Shelton’s performance.
“We are excited to bring this incredible event to Grand Falls-Windsor, a host town with a great deal of experience and even more passion for attracting marquee concerts to the region,” wrote Carver.
There were rumours that Shelton had been contacted by the town to play in this year’s Salmon Festival but pulled out due to complications.
“Not true,” said Barry Manuel, mayor of Grand Falls-Windsor. “We made a conscious decision last year as a town council last year to downscale our show to eliminate financial risk.”
Manuel went on to say that he was excited for the Salmon Festival, which runs from July 13-17.
He said Shelton’s announcement made little difference.
“We’re comfortable where were to in ticket sales (for the Salmon Festival). We expect a minimal impact,” he said. “We invite everybody to celebrate with us that weekend. Let’s hope for some nice weather.”
