SPRINGDALE, NL — Residents of the Springdale Retirement Centre recently placed the birdhouses they built over the winter throughout the community.

One of the birdhouses placed high in a tree along the trail.

The project, partnering with the Indian River Walking Trail committee and the Town of Springdale, saw the residents build birdhouses in January. They got a helping hand from Clarence Oxford on the handiwork — painting, gluing, hammering, and designing the artwork.

During a pleasant day earlier this month, residents took an outing along the Indian River Walking Trail and put up the birdhouses.

The project was a nice example of the community coming together to help make improvements to the town in a small way.
