SPRINGDALE, NL — There is plenty of Halloween fun being planned throughout the region to celebrate this “spooktacular” occasion.
The 10th annual Haunted Halloween House at the Icecap Youth Centre in Springdale Thursday and Friday promises to be a frightening experience.

Organizers have been working to make the event bigger and better than ever.

New this year will be a frightful photo booth. People are encouraged to come dressed in costume and capture some scary memories while waiting to be escorted through the dark and winding tunnels of the haunted house. The upstairs of the youth centre has been converted into a “chilling craze.”

There will be a matinee from 4-5 p.m. on both Thursday and Friday — a little less scarier version for younger children. Regular events take place from 6-9:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. An adult must accompany children under 12 who are brave enough to enter.

“I hope we have scared you into coming out to have some freaky fun, while supporting our youth programming,” Deidre Clarke, executive director of the youth centre, stated in a press release.

For more information, call 673-3755 or visit the organization’s Facebook page.

At the library

There will also be a Halloween Story Time and Costume Parade at the Springdale Public Library.
On Thursday at 6 p.m., there will be a session for children ages one to four. On Saturday at 2 p.m., there will be singing, storytelling, crafts, games, and a special surprise for children ages five to 10. There will be a costume parade fashion show. Children and parents are asked to come dressed as their favourite characters.

Participants are asked to sign up by calling Judy at 673-4169.

Photographer Christa White will be available to take Halloween pictures.

Baie Verte

The Community Youth Network, the College of the North Atlantic and the Town of Baie Verte are partnering to hold the town’s first Zombie Walk. It will take place Saturday at the Community Youth Network.

From 1-4 p.m., there will be Halloween movies and zombie makeup application for all ages.

From 4-4:45 p.m., the all-ages Zombie Walk will take place from the youth network building to the Co-Op and back.

From 5-8 p.m., a pizza party with zombie-themed snacks and beverages will take place.

From 8 p.m.-midnight, there will be teen/adult Halloween movies.
Come celebrate Halloween with friends, food, zombies and more. Donations to the food bank are being accepted.
