The official kick-off for Minor Hockey Week 2013 was held in Baie Verte this past Saturday. While a four tearm tournament was scheduled, weather and other factors prevented two teams from Central from making the trip.
However, two games were still played between Baie Verte Sabres and La Scie Jets. Baie Verte took both contests, with La Scie putting up a well-fought battle, none-the-less.
Representatives from Hockey NL were on hand for the festivities as well as the official mascot for Minor Hockey Week, “Puckster.”
Despite the change of plans, fun was still had by all, and the players on both teams got to live out their love of the game.
