Zero tolerance at Tommy Ricketts Arena

There are 18 strict rules being put in place at Tommy Ricketts Arena in Baie Verte.

"The recreation commission thought it was time for the rules to be changed and updated," said chair of the recreation commission, Rex Bowers.

A list of updated rules was brought forth at the regular council meeting on December 18. Council approved rules developed by the recreation commission; however council also included some additional rules before the signs for the stadium were finalized.

BAIE VERTE - There are 18 strict rules being put in place at Tommy Ricketts Arena in Baie Verte.

"The recreation commission thought it was time for the rules to be changed and updated," said chair of the recreation commission, Rex Bowers.

A list of updated rules was brought forth at the regular council meeting on December 18. Council approved rules developed by the recreation commission; however council also included some additional rules before the signs for the stadium were finalized.

"We have met on this issue a few times before the rules were finally agreed upon," said Mr. Bowers.

The Town of Baie Verte has also adopted a Zero Tolerance policy against the use of obscene language and inappropriate behaviour at the recreation facility. The breaking of any rule will result in immediate removal and suspension. Anyone removed from the building will be suspended for a period no less than 30 days and may be charged under the Petty Trespass Act.




NEW RULES

No physical of verbal abuse of officials, players, stadium security, fans or arena staff.
Keep our stadium clean. Throw all garbage and recyclables in proper containers.
No throwing of any object onto ice surface.
Any damage will be charged to person(s) causing the damage or parent/guardian.
An adult must accompany children under the age of 12.
Children must be supervised at all times.
No running around in the corridors or bleachers.
No smoking in the stadium or within 10 metres of entrances.
At family and general skating, no rough play on the ice, skate in direction indicated.
Family skating is a slower pace skate for younger children and parents. No speed skating or roughing. Teenagers are welcome is accompanied and supervised by an adult.
Only CSA approved skating aids allowed (no chair, sleds, strollers or pylons).
CSA approved helmets are recommended.
No food or drink allowed on ice.
Minor hockey players, families and spectators must follow the BVMHA Code of Conduct.
At minor hockey practices, players are not permitted on the ice without a coach.
All students are required to cheer from the bleachers during hockey games. Students are not permitted upstairs during hockey games.
No banging on the Plexiglass.
No alcoholic beverages are permitted in the viewing rooms during recreation hockey.
