A School Sports Newfoundland and Labrador provincial cross-country running qualifier was held last Saturday, October 20 at the beginning of Tommy's Arm Road in Robert's Arm, beginning at 10 a.m.
A total of 33 runners participated in the event from schools including Dorset Collegiate in Pilley's Island with 16 runners, Indian River High in Springdale with five competitors, Baie Verte Collegiate in Baie Verte with six runners and Cape John Collegiate in La Scie also with six.
According to convenor Mark Warren, although it was a typically chilly and wet cross-country running tournament, competitors demonstrated great spirit and sportsmanship.
