A.J. Halfyard Shield , La Scie , French Shore

Cape John Collegiate in La Scie took the A.J. Halfyard Shield this year for excellence in sports. The shield is presented to a school in the French Shore zone each year with the greatest winnings in both junior and senior sports. Cape John also won the Athletic Achievement Award for the past six years, which is given to the top school for junior sports. This year they have won their first shield.

School sports awards were given out at the year-end ceremony on June 22. Brandon Haas was named junior male athlete of the year and Brandi Lee Randell won female athlete of the year as well the coachs award for junior girls table tennis. Evan Dicks received the award for senior male athlete of the year as well as the coachs award for both softball and senior boys badminton.

Amber Ward won the coachs award for junior girls badminton, Jenna Gale won the coachs award for senior girls cross-country, Jessica Randell won the coachs award for senior girls volleyball and Ashley Morey won the coachs award for senior girls table tennis.

Erin Fahey won the coachs award for junior girls volleyball and Katie Sullivan won the coachs award for junior cross country as well as junior girls basketball.

Luke Foster Critch won the coachs award for junior hockey, Tyler Andrews won the coachs award for senior boys cross country, Joshua Sullivan won the coachs award for junior boys volleyball, Nathan Sullivan won the coachs awards for junior boys table tennis and junior boys badminton.

Ronald Sullivan won the coachs award for junior boys cross country and junior boys basketball. Jay Ward was named the senior female athlete of the year and won coachs awards for girls softball and senior girls badminton. Nick Morey won the coachs awards for senior boys volleyball, senior boys basketball and senior boys table tennis.
