Whether you celebrate, don’t celebrate, celebrate something else, or sit home all day watching TV and wondering what the big deal is about, I hope you’re having a good time of year.
The whole idea of Christmas means so much to so many different people, and whatever it means to you is nothing more than your own business and your own choice. For me, it’s a time set aside to remember a baby that was born, that grew up to save the world, and give hope to a planet that was headed down a dangerous road.
Whether you believe Jesus was who many say he was or not, I don’t know – but I do know that because he was born, billions of people have suddenly become happy. Call it a crutch, a false hope, nonsense or whatever – the fact is, I’ve never met anyone who truly enjoyed having this baby a part of their life, that wasn’t happy.
Theology aside, that truth is undeniable, and hard to point out as a not-so-good thing.
In fact, if you wanted to, you could almost say that’s what Christmas is all about. Being Happy. How you achieve that happiness is up to you – I may not necessarily agree with your choice of actions – I may not even believe you when you say you’re happy with what you did. In fact, you may not even believe yourself.
Just be happy. For once, throughout the year, use this time to be truly happy. ‘Tis the season, after all.
