The Ramea ferry Sound Of Islay was out of service today due to accidently striking the bow of the ship into the Burgeo dock shortly before 6 p.m. on Aug. 18.

Welders repair a hole in the bow of the Sound of Islay. The ferry was serving Ramea on Aug. 18 when it struck the dock in Burgeo.

The ferry returned to Ramea for the night not aware that a hole had been punched into the bow. The ferry returned to Burgeo early this morning to have necessary repairs made. A welding crew and a safety inspector is on hand welding and repairing the hole.

The ferry expects to return to service this evening.
