Comfort Cove-Newstead family finds message on a ball
LEWISPORTE — As children we can all remember putting a message in a pop bottle and throwing it as far as we could into the water.

Abigail Farrell prepared to throw a ball into the stream at the Lewisporte Train Park in hopes someone else eventually find it.
As we watched the bottle bob on the waves we could only imagine where it would end up — on a sandy beach or lodged between two rocks near a cliff — wherever it landed we always hoped someone would find it.
Kerri and Craig Farrell of Lewisporte thought their daughter, five-year-old Abigail, would enjoy the same activity. Instead of a message in a bottle the family used brightly coloured rubber balls.
The family went to the Lewisporte Train Park around the end of June and tossed a yellow and purple ball into the water and returned home.
“We had a purple ball that she wrote her name on and asked others to write their name on and return it to the water,” Kerri said. “The yellow one had her name and address.”
