Three impaired drivers arrested, charged Sunday

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary arrested three impaired drivers in St. John’s-metro Sunday .

Around 6:07 a.m., officers responded  to a report of a vehicle collision in the west end of St. John’s. A vehicle struck a pole in the area of Prince Phillip Drive and a witness indicated that the male driver was running from the scene.

Police officers located a 26-year-old male driver a short distance from the accident.  The man was charged with impaired driving and driving with a blood alcohol level above the legal limit.  He was released to appear in court at a later date.

Around 11 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to a report of a possible impaired driver on Park Avenue in Mount Pearl, where concerned citizens had blocked in a vehicle at a convenience store.

The RIC said a 48-year-old woman provided a breath sample that was three times the legal limit.  She was charged with impaired driving and driving with a blood alcohol level above the legal limit..  She was also released to appear in court at a later date.

Around 1:10 p.m., police officers responded to another report of a possible impaired driver in the area of Old Pine Line, Torbay.

As a result, the RIC said a 58-year-old man provided a breath sample that was more than three times the legal limit. He was charged with impaired driving and driving with a blood alcohol level above the legal limit and was released to appear in court at a later date.
