Search continues for second missing man from Cow Head

RCMP

The Rocky Harbour RCMP are continuing to investigate the disappearance of 47-year-old Albert Brake of Trout River, but suspended diving recovery efforts on Friday.

A news release says the RCMP's dive team conducted searches in the waters at Trout River on Thursday and again on Friday, and that all probable areas had been searched with no result. The dive operation was suspended Friday afternoon pending further information.

Brake, who was last seen swimming at Trout River on Sunday, July 20, was reported missing on Wednesday.

In a separate investigation, the dive team and the Bonne Bay Ground Search and Rescue Team are currently at Cow Head in efforts to locate a missing adult male resident of that community.

The man is believed to have entered the water from the community wharf at Cow Head while riding an all-terrain vehicle Tuesday night. Police said at the time the man's ATV had been recovered.

The man's name is not being released at this time.

Parks Canada closed the Shallow Bay Beach on Thursday in order to support the search efforts.

I live in trout river and as far as I am concerned the search was not long enough. The divers only searched for about 7 hrs in two days. They only searched the cove and no surrounding areas.
