A 31-year-old man was expected in provincial court in Corner Brook for a bail hearing today on a number of charges including assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm.
The alleged incidents occurred when a gathering at a residence in Deer Lake on July 6 ran into the early morning hours of July 7 and turned nasty.
About 3:30 a.m. that day, the Deer Lake RCMP responded to a noise complaint in the west coast town.
The accused was one of a large group of people at the local residence.
The RCMP investigation revealed an altercation had taken place and the accused allegedly committed a number of separate assaults and other crimes.
One incident involved a weapon that was used to threaten a victim.
The accused also caused serious injury to himself and was taken into police custody and transported to Western Memorial Regional Hospital for treatment.

A female victim was also treated and released at Western Memorial Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Charges against the man include assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats, two counts of assault, and several breaches of a court-ordered undertaking.
He has been in custody since the incident.
