The accident occurred near the intersection with the Team Gushue Highway.

RNC officers on the scene say it appears the motorcycle hit some ruts cut in the highway in preparation for paving.

West-bound traffic is backed up in the area as the RNC continues to investigate the scene.

An ambulance and the St. John’s Regional Fire Department also responded to the accident.

Here we go again, poor signage leads to motorcycle accident. A friend of mine spent months in a coma after hitting the same thing on the same road two years ago, when are we going to start holding people criminally responsible for these ridiculous and callous acts of irresponsibility.

When they say some ruts cut in the pavement did they actually mean to say the bike was travelling at 140 km/h?
