Musician Jim Payne will return to the area this summer to play three different gigs.

Jim Payne

The musical troubadour raised in Pilley’s Island and Robert’s Arm, will join musical companion Fergus O’Byrne to play at the Shoe Cove Come Home Year on July 23, and a benefit concert for the King’s Point Heritage Society the next night on July 24.

Later in August, they’ll also join an all-star lineup in Burlington for The Gathering.

“It’s great to get back home every now and then and play,” he said.

Payne began his musical journey early in life, singing for small change on the streets of Pilley’s Island. From there to Robert’s Arm, then St. John’s and beyond, music has been a driving force in Payne’s life.

The Nor’wester caught up with Payne recently to chat about his career. We’ll have the full story in Thursday’s edition.
