Marine Atlantic updated its travel advisory this afternoon with some cancellations to affect the operation on Saturday.

The changes were made based on the current track of Hurricane Arthur as it approaches the Cabot Strait.

Three planned crossings for today have been rescheduled to earlier times.

The North Sydney to Argentia crossing that was to go at 5:30 p.m. will now sail at 4 p.m.

The Port aux Basques to North Sydney crossing for 11:45 p.m. will now depart at 8:45 p.m. and the North Sydney to Port aux Basques ferry for 11:45 p.m. will now leave at 9:45.

A new commercial crossing, for tractor trailers, straight trucks and drop trailers, from North Sydney to Port aux Basques will leave at 5:45 p.m.

For Saturday a new commercial crossing from Port aux Basques to North Sydney will depart at 5:30 a.m.

The 11:45 a.m. ferry from Port aux Basques to North Sydney is now scheduled to depart at 9:45 a.m. The 11:45 p.m. crossing from Port aux Basques has been cancelled and booked passengers will now depart on the 9:45 a.m. ferry.

The North Sydney to Port aux Basques crossing for 11:45 a.m. has been rescheduled to 6 a.m. The 11:45 p.m. crossing on that run has also been cancelled with booked passengers moved to the 6 a.m. crossing.

Marine Atlantic hasn’t made any changes to its schedule for Port aux Basques and North Sydney for Sunday, but is advising passengers of a possible impact as it continues to monitor the forecast.

The crossings to and from Argentia scheduled for Saturday and Sunday have been cancelled and all booked passengers will now depart on Monday at 5 p.m.

Marine Atlantic says customers will be notified of the changes. Passengers who want to change a reservation can contact the reservations department at 1-800-341-7981.
