Two injured in moose-vehicle collision

Two people were seriously injured when the vehicle they were travelling in hit a moose on the Trans-Canada Highway about 15 kilometres east of South Brook in the Springdale area early this morning.

The accident occurred at about 2:45 a.m. The passenger car was westbound when it struck the moose.

Springdale Royal Canadian Mounted Police say the two injured occupants were taken to hospital and their injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Traffic on the highway had to be stopped for a short period of time.

Ambulances from Springdale and Roberts Arm, the Springdale Fire Department and the Department of Natural Resources all attended the scene.
