About 175 people of all ages came out to the RCMP detachment in Baie Verte on May 6 for the third annual open house.

The event featured a tour of the building, a barbecue and a chance for everyone to meet the police officers and the RCMP Safety Beat mascot.

Members of the Baie Verte Volunteer Fire Department, Baie Verte Ambulance and the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) also attended and kids were able to enjoy their emergency vehicles and the DFO boat.

As part of the open house the RCMP encouraged people to bring along non-perishable food items for the local food bank in Baie Verte.  The Baie Verte CO-OP and Wimbleton's also donated to the open house.

The RCMP say it was great to meet local people at the open house and they look forward to doing the same next year.
