Kaetlyn Osmond may have stumbled in her short program Wednesday and felt her own disappointment, but Thursday she completed one of her best freestyle skates in international competition.

The 18-year-old Olympian from Marystown, NL, completed her freestyle program with 112.80 – described by skating commentators her season best total in freestyle.

Combined with her short program result of 56.18, Kaetlyn was looking for a top 10 finish in the overall total of 30 skaters, 24 of whom advanced to the freestyle skate. She finished just outside in 13th place after two days, the same position after the short program.

Russian Adelina Sotrinkova captured the gold medal with the second highest freestyle total in history (149.95). She also had a five point margin over silver medal winner Korea's Yuna Kim. Carolina Kostner of Italy won bronze.

Canada's second skater Gabrielle Daleman finished in 17th place with an overall 148.44 score.

Derek, if this is true then shame on the politicians. We know where they are when the TV's are showing Kaetlyn.

Congratulations on a great showing Kaetlyn. Too bad the provincial government, King and Jackman and team, could not see fit to give you money to support you. So glad my town was behind you.
