PROVINCIAL — The Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Private Employees (NAPE) has ratified a collective agreement with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, representing approximately 250 workers in the intra-provincial ferry fleet. Votes took place province-wide over the past two weeks.

Marine Services members voted 71 per cent in favour of accepting the agreement. The group had previously voted to reject the agreement that was brought before them in October of last year due to some operational issues, such as scheduling. According to NAPE these issues have since been addressed.

“We are very pleased to reach this result,” said NAPE President Carol Furlong. “We worked to address the operational issues that were causing concerns for the marine services members. In the end, we were successful in that effort which is evident in the recent vote results for this group.”
