Trio of defendants facing charges after death on Outer Ring Road in 2011

A case emerging from a worker’s death, involving allegations of violations of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, was called again at provincial court in St. John’s on Wednesday has been scheduled to return March 19.

The case involves allegations against the provincial Department of Transportation, the City of St. John’s, Irving Oil Commercial, Irving Oil Refining and Irving Oil Terminals. All are all facing eight charges of breaching the Act.

The case was first in court July 30, 2013.

It is focused on events from July 5, 2011, when one man was killed and two other workers injured while on the job on the Outer Ring Road in St. John’s.
