Weather warnings ended in Grand Falls -Windsor and vicinity

Though there’s quite a bit of shoveling to do this morning in the Exploits Valley, the warnings have ended.

This is what Hardy Avenue, Grand Falls-Windsor looked at 8:15 a.m. this morning. Warnings have ended,yet wind is blowing snow around this morning.

According to Environment Canada, today will bring periods of snow and blowing snow (amount 2 cm) expected to end this afternoon then a mix of sun and cloud. Wind northwest 30 km/h gusting to 50 increasing to 60 gusting to 80 this morning then becoming west 30 gusting to 50 this afternoon with temperature falling to minus 7 this afternoon.

And there is a chance of flurries each day heading into the weekend.

Tonight is mainly cloudy with a 40 per cent change of flurries this evening, and flurries beginning near midnight with wind west 20 km/h gusting to 40 and the temperature steady near minus 8.

There is also a 60 per cent chance of flurries on Friday morning with wind 20 gusting to 40 and becoming light in the evening ad temperature steady near minus 9.

On Saturday there is a 40 per cent chance of flurries with a low of minus 15 and a high of minus 8.

However, according to the long range, from Sunday until Christmas Day, despite minus temperatures, there is no precipitation expected.

Sunday’s weather is expected to be cloudy with a low of minus 17, high of minus 12

On Tips’ Eve, there is expected to be a low of minus 14 and a high of minus 9 with a mix of sun and cloud.

On Christmas Eve (the day when a lot of people actually would like to have a few flurries) Santa will have a chilly trip as it’s expected to be much the same as Monday with a mix of sun and cloud, a low of minus 13 and a high of minus 11.

On Christmas Day, expect a sunny day to get outside and enjoy a day with family and friends sun with a low of minus 14 and a high of minus 8.
