Family of five left with nothing after tragedy

No one was injured, but a family of five from Brent's Cove is without their home, today, after a fire destoryed their house on Wednesday evening.

Fire destoryed a home in Brent's Cove on Wednesday Night.

According to RCMP in Baie Verte, no one was home at the home of Jeffrey and Nicole Andrews when neighbours noticed smoke and damage to the exterior of the structure around 7:00pm on Wednesday evening. The family were out of town when officers responded to the call.

Corporal Justin Hewlett says the incident does not appear to be suspicious, and the wood stove in the house appears to be the cause of the fire. When officers arrived on the scene, the damage was already extensive and there was little chance of saving anything from the house. Eventually, the building was a complete loss, he said.

Hewlett says the fire is perhaps even more tragic given the time of year it happened. The Andrews have three children, all under the age of 10 years old, and he says in addition to their personal belongings, no doubt Christmas gifts were also destroyed. The family did not have fire insurance on the home.

Social media lit up after the tragedy, with many people calling for donations - especially clothing. A bank account has also been set up so that people can make monetary donations to the cause.

Story Developing.

Is there a way to make non-monetary donations to the family?
