Mayor Clar Brown of Baie Verte and Reverend Sid Newbury, President, Branch 54 of the Royal Canadian Legion, Baie Verte Peninsula, signed the Poppy/ Remembrance Day Proclamation this week at Council Chambers in Baie Verte. The signing initiates the sale of Poppies in this area. This Remembrance Period is a time for all citizens in this province to reflect and recall to mind the many sacrifices made by our Veterans to ensure the peace we now enjoy. The Poppy symbolically perpetuates the memory and deeds of the fallen and those who die in the future. It is a symbol of both peace and hope. Remembrance Day service will take place at the Roman Catholic Church in Baie Verte on November 11 beginning at 11:00am followed by a ceremony at the Cenotaph in Baie Verte.
