The Clarenville-Lethbridge-Bonavista region is absolutely packed with community groups, motivated citizens, and interesting projects. Experience shows, though, that they may not know much about each other. A new project will help change that. Led by the Community Sector Council NL, Alliances for Community Engagement (ACE) will help bring the region closer together.
ACE will be hosting fun and motivational events, organizing showcases of the amazing work already happening in the area, spreading the word on social media, matching volunteers with organizations, and providing lots of support to new ideas and new partnerships.
“Community groups, businesses, volunteers, and government are doing great, creative work all over the region – work that could be even stronger with a few more connections,” says CSC CEO Penelope Rowe, “With support from ACE, great ideas will have the chance to take off, and the communities of the region will have a chance to get to know each other even better.”
ACE project staff are already on the ground in the region, meeting with local community leaders. On Oct. 19, ACE will be bringing in well-known motivational speaker Barry Green for a full-day fun workshop focused on making community connections. This free workshop will be held at the Fishers’ Loft Conference Centre in Port Rexton.
