A 68-year-old Grand Falls-Windsor resident has been located and is in good health after spending two nights in the woods between Point Of Bay and Cottrell's Cove.
The RCMP received word of the missing person on the morning of August 30th after the man did not return home from a fishing trip the previous evening. A two day search effort followed and involved members of the RCMP’s General Duties and Police Dog Services based out of Grand Falls-Windsor; the Exploits Search and Rescue Team and a helicopter provided by NL Fire and Emergency Services.
According to RCMP Corporal Chad Norman, the man went trout fishing yesterday evening in the Kylie's Pond area, approximately 25 kilometres past Point of Bay on route 350, and didn't return. The local detachment received a missing person report at around 7 a.m. on Friday.
The RCMP would like to thank the members of the surrounding communities for their assistance in the search effort.
