The Green Bay sub-chapter held another very successful ATV "Ride for Wishes" in aid of the Children's Wish Foundation, Saturday, August 17th, as a group of over 20 riders took part in this, the fourth annual event.
After meeting at Hydro Road near Springdale at 10am, MHA Kevin Pollard kicked off this years ride and congratulated all those involved in this very worthwhile cause and the ride was officially underway.
The group, which consisted of previous years riders and some new ones, young and old alike, who joined the cause this year, made their way up through the country, taking in some nice scenery and stopping along the way for a few breaks and to take some pictures of the beautiful scenery.
After an hour or so, the group stopped for a lunch break and then headed back to the starting point at Hydro Road, where prizes were handed out to each participant and ''special'' prizes awarded to the top three who raised the most money for this event.
During this year's Ride, six year old Savannah Oxford presented proceeds from her annual yard sale/penny drive to sub-chapter coordinators Everett & Brenda Butt bringing this years total to over $8,000 to help make a wish come true for a child.
Many thanks go out to all who took part, those who sponsored the riders, the many business owners and the ATV dealers who donated some great prizes to make this the biggest year yet. The Children's Wish Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador, have granted many wishes over the past years all over the province and in the Green Bay/White Bay area alone, there has been 10 wishes granted so far, thanks to the many who support events like this on an annual basis.
The next big fundraiser for this sub-chapter will be held on Saturday October 5th, when The Annual ''Walk for Wishes'' will take place in Springdale. Pledge sheets will be available soon.
