The Marine Atlantic ferry MV Blue Puttees is scheduled to be back in service this week between Port aux Basques and North Sydney.
Marine Atlantic said in a news release today, repair work on the vessel was successfully completed over the weekend and it will depart Halifax later today returning to North Sydney.
It's anticipated the ferry will resume service between North Sydney and Port aux Basques Tuesday night.
The MV Blue Puttees was damaged earlier this month when it became grounded in Port aux Basques.
The MV Atlantic Vision, which was taken off the Argentia run to replace the MV Blue Puttees, will resume its Argentia sailing schedule this week, with the first departure being Wednesday’s sailing from North Sydney to Argentia.
Marine Atlantic says Argentia customers, whose original bookings were re-routed through Port aux Basques, are being contacted and provided the option of rebooking to the Argentia service. Previously impacted customers who choose to take the Argentia service will see no increase in their fares and will continue to pay the Port aux Basques-North Sydney rate.
Marine Atlantic said it thanks its customers for their understanding and patience during this service interruption.
