The girl, also facing charges of assault and damaging property after police were called to a Corner Brook residence Monday night, was held for another night in jail and is expected to have a bail hearing this afternoon.
Crown attorney Michael Fox was agreeing to release her under a number of conditions, despite the fact she previously received a suspended sentence in another province in relation to an incident of violence against her mother.
Because she didn’t agree with the conditions, she will now have a bail hearing to determine if she will be released.
If released, the judge who makes that decision will then impose whatever conditions he or she feels is appropriate. If she is refused bail, she will stay in jail until her criminal charges are dealt with in court.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary reported responding to a city residence at about 11 p.m. Monday. The victim received minor injuries, according to police.
