The case of a former local journalist charged with luring a teenager over the Internet was called in provincial court in St. John's this morning.
Kevin Kelly, 41, wasn't in court but was represented by his newly retained lawyer Rosellen Sullivan.
Crown prosecutor Shawn Patten told Judge Mike Madden that Sullivan has requested information and police evidence on the case.
Sullivan said she would need time to review the file and to speak to her client.
The case was set over until Feb. 1.
Kelly was a senior editor with The Herald magazine during the time of the alleged offence. While police would not release details about the case, The Telegram had learned the charge was laid as a result of Kelly reportedly sending inappropriate messages to a teenage girl on Facebook.
He was said to have been sending the messages over a five-week period. A complaint was formally made to police in January 2012.
