Deer Lake man killed in traffic collision

A 35-year-old Deer Lake man was killed in a traffic accident involving a car and an ambulance near Pynn’s Brook Tuesday evening.

The ambulance was transporting a patient at the time of the accident, who was taken to hospital along with two paramedics. All three were treated for as of yet undetermined injuries.

Police had to close down one lane of the Trans-Canada Highway just east of Pynn’s Brook near a Christmas tree business. A police report states scattered debris forced the Deer Lake RCMP to advise drivers of heavy trucks or tractor-trailers to stay away from the area.

The investigation will continue. Police have not yet released the name of the deceased.
