HAPPY VALLEY-GOOSE BAY — The sentencing of a former Happy Valley-Goose Bay teacher and librarian who is from Corner Brook and is charged with sex offences has been delayed for two more months.
Mark Baxter White has pleaded guilty to charges of making and distributing child pornography and using a computer to lure a child.
The offences, which involved a teenage girl in the United States and involved an investigation by the American Federal Bureau of Investigation, took place between June 22-25, 2009.
The charges were laid in March 2010 and White was subsequently suspended from his position at Mealy Mountain Collegiate by the Labrador District School Board.
The matter had been set for sentencing in the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador in Goose Bay Wednesday, but had to be set over until Feb. 4.
It had to be postponed because Crown attorney Robin Fowler is in the process of prosecuting the murder trial of Steven Neville in St. John’s. The Neville trial was supposed to have been finished in November, but it is still ongoing and Fowler had to appear on that matter again Wednesday.
