RCMP Lewisporte are investigating the death of a 78-year-old man from Notre Dame Junction as the result of an ATV accident.
On Nov. 27 at approximately 6:30 pm, RCMP in Lewisporte were notified of the man being overdue after leaving early in the morning on his side by side ATV to check his rabbit slips.
RCMP along with the Exploits Valley Search and Rescue were able to locate the man approximately 25 km south of the TCH in the Red Fox Road/Mt. Peyton area. He was located next to his ATV and was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency officials.
An autopsy is scheduled by the office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death.
The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
