To mark the start of Fire Prevention week, which runs from Sunday, October 7 to Saturday, October 13, Springdale Fire and Rescue held a breakfast at the fire hall for their firefighters, Deputy Mayor Weir and MHA Pollard.
After breakfast the firefighters marched to the Town Hall. There Fire Chief Rennie Normore, Deputy Mayor Weir and MHA Pollard raised the Fire Prevention Flag to officially start the Week. The theme this year is “Be rabbit ready and have two ways out”.
On Tuesday, October 9, firefighters visited the local schools to conduct fire drills. On Thursday October 11 at 6:30 PM, the firefighters will have the fire trucks stationed at different locations in town so please drop by to say hello and pick up some information.
The trucks will also travel throughout the town sounding the sirens and once you hear them please take the time to have a practice fire drill with your family.
On Friday, members will be attending the Newfound Child care centre in the afternoon.
On Saturday, October 13, the firefighters will be holding an Open House at the fire hall between the hours of 1 pm to 4 pm. Drop by with your children for a hot dog, to meet firefighters, have a look at the equipment and take home some great fire safety tips.
