Celebrate, Remember, Fight Back. That was the theme of this year’s Relay For Life which took place in King’s Point on Saturday night. Close to 300 people came out to support the cause to fight back against cancer.
There were survivors of cancer, those currently fighting cancer, caregivers, family members and friends, all taking part in the relay.
Twelve teams took part in the relay, representing communities and/or people in the Green Bay area. It was twelve full hours of walking, celebration, remembrance, entertainment and fundraising.
The evening began with a supper for the survivors, which was followed by the opening ceremonies and remarks. It was a sea of yellow as the survivors made their entrance into the gym donning their yellow Relay For Life Survivor T-shirts. Cheers of love and support went up for them as they took their victory lap. It was a time for all to remember as candles were illuminated around the track in remembrance of those loved ones who lost their fight with cancer.
Overall the night was a great success raising in excess of $30,000; a great victory for all involved.
