Special to the Nor’Wester
Little Bay Islands held their fourth annual Traditional Songwriters Festival this past weekend. It was another big success with a fun-filled weekend of food, games, and endless music and song. The weekend kicked off on Friday night with a wine and cheese event, and opening performances by the Kippers and Trevor Grimes at the festival grounds. Saturday started out with Kids Bingo and the ‘Songwriter’s Circle’ with Aldonna O’Keefe. The music portion of the festival wrapped up on Saturday night in fine style with musical headliners Darren Freeman and The Irish Descendants. Over the course of the weekend there were dozens of musicians, singers and songwriters gracing the festival stage, providing hours of traditional Newfoundland music for the many visitors to the island. In additional to the great line-up of musicians there were games and a magic show for the children, and several venues for food and socializing around the island. It was an all around great weekend for people of all ages.
